Core programs

CFF runs two core programs to assist children: Miracle sMiles and Between the Gaps.

  • Miracle sMiles brings children from developing countries to Australia for life saving / life changing surgery that cannot be done in their country of birth. Both before and after their surgery, the children stay at Children First’s homestead-style farm in Kilmore, Victoria where they receive homely care in a loving environment
  • Between the Gaps delivers ancillary medical assistance to many disadvantaged Australian children

A very special place

To bring Children First projects to life, in 1999, a local Rotarian and his wife donated 45 hectares of land on which to build a home for Moira and the children. This homestead in Kilmore, Victoria provides a stable base and a loving, homely environment for children preparing for and recovering from their surgery.

In 2005, Children First purchased an Emergency Accommodation House in North Melbourne to provide overnight stays for children and their carers during treatment or when they've just been discharged from hospital. It’s close to many of the hospitals where the children are treated and also serves as the Foundation’s administrative headquarters.
