Know your BMI
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple way of measuring weight-for-height which many healthcare professionals use to ascertain underweight, overweight or obesity in adults.
Generally speaking, a healthy BMI result falls between 18.5 and 25. Anything below 18.5 indicates you are probably underweight whilst a number above 25 indicates that you could be overweight.

Use the BMI calculator as a guide only
BMI may not necessarily correspond to the same degree of fatness in certain populations. This is because the associations between BMI, percentage of body fat and body fat distribution differs greatly between ethnic groups.
There are also limitations with certain other groups of people including athletes, body builders and pregnant women should not use the s the calculator can overestimate their body fat to height ratio.
Similarly, the BMI calculator can underestimate the body fat to height ratio in elderly folk and people with a physical disability who may have muscle wastage. It's also not recommended for people with eating disorders. While it's useful to know your BMI, nothing replaces speaking with your doctor or healthcare professional.
Another useful indicator of weight range is your waistline measurement, but the best indicator of all is taking a measurement of both your BMI and waistline.
