Normal, Oily, Dry, Combination and Sensitive Skincare

The skincare report

Skin type is genetically determined by how much oil your skin produces, but stress, diet, medication and environment also contribute to its condition. Determining your skin type can be confusing, but our easy-to-follow guide will help you discover which category your skin fits into and which products will help you care for it.

There are five basic skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination and sensitive.

Normal skin

Smooth and supple, normal skin is defined by its fine texture and small, barely visible pores. Normal skin is even in tone and rarely develops spots. You've been blessed, so keep your skin looking healthy with a regular gentle skincare routine.

We ♥ Biore Skin Preservations Clean Things Up' gel cleanser, 'Even Smoother' microderm exfoliator & polish, and 'Power Couple' moisturiser and SPF 30.

Oily skin

Oily skin is usually shiny with enlarged pores and is often bumpy and thicker in texture. Prone to blackheads and breakouts, oily skin requires frequent and thorough cleansing. It's a robust skin type, but don't strip it of oil by using harsh products.

We ♥ Neutrogena Oil Free Fresh Moisturiser.

Dry skin

With a tendency to redness, flakiness and fine lines, dry skin can also feel tight - especially after cleansing. Rehydration is essential for all skin types but especially for dry skin. Always use a rich nourishing cleanser and moisturiser and never ever use astringents or alcohol-based products. Dry skin needs a more nurturing skincare regime.

We ♥ Simple Kind to Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion, Simple Hydrating Rich Moisturiser and Rosken Hydrating Skin Repair Lotion for your body.

Combination skin

The most common skin type, 'combo skin' is both oily and dry. The oily area is the forehead, nose and chin - usually known as the 't-zone' - and this area is often shiny with small blackheads. The dry areas occur around the cheeks, eyes and mouth, causing fine lines, so be kind to your skin and include a great moisturiser in your daily skincare.

We ♥ Juice Organics Brightening Cleanser and Brightening Serum or Nivea Visage Young Bye Bye Spot Night Care.

Sensitive skin

Thin with a fine delicate texture that's easily irritated, sensitive skin is often patchy with a tendency to blotchiness and broken capillaries. It's also hyper-sensitive to environmental factors and chemicals in certain soaps and perfumes. With an appropriate skincare habit and the right products, you can improve its texture and appearance.

We ♥ Eau Thermale Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser and the new Natural Being Manuka Honey range.
